Roll-out

3 phases

Information and mobilization

“Be ready for the shift to electric heavy-duty transport and come and test drive an electric truck”

The IVI will be holding of two (2) national events (Mirabel and Quebec – fall 2022) combined with a provincial tour (in 2023) to provide managers with key knowledge through workshops and training. During these events, participants will be able to test drive electric trucks (Ride & Drive).

Analysis and preparation for action

“ The Innovative Vehicle Institute debunks the myths of electrification by analyzing the implementation potential of 30 Quebec companies ”

Between fall 2022 and the end of 2023, thirty (30) fleets will be supported over a period of 3 months each in order to perform the energy and operational analysis of a part of their current fleet. They will also receive a personalized action plan.

Experimentation and support

“IVI and five (5) Quebec fleets demonstrate that the electrification of heavy-duty transport is now a reality”

Five (5) participating businesses will move from theory to practice in 2023 by testing the advantages and challenges of electric heavy-duty truck in real-life conditions. These companies will have access to a free one-month electric truck loan including the appropriate charging infrastructure.

Project description and Registration

Phase 1 - Information and mobilization

“Be ready for the shift to electric heavy transport, come test drive an electric truck”

The first part of the project will gather heavy vehicle fleet managers from over 100 buninesses for one-day events.

Two (2) national events (Montreal and Quebec) will be held in the fall of 2022. A tour planned in six (6) other regions will support managers by covering clean energy trends for commercial vehicles and operational insights for vocational truck fleets. Participants will be allowed to test drive electric trucks.

Why attend?

The events are aimed at owners and operators of heavy vehicles to wish to obtain accurate, locally relevant and unbiased information for the electrification of heavy vehicles. This is an occasion to find new ways to make your company more eco-friendly

Our events give you knowledge and answer key concerns such as charging infrastructure, operational issues and questions related to vehicle acquisition.

Our events allow you to discuss your electrification intentions with industry leaders and test-drive electric heavy-duty vehicles.

Event locations:

Priority at our events will be given to owners and operators of heavy-duty vehicles (PEVL) who meet the selection criteria for phase 2.

Phase 2 - Analysis and preparation for action

“ The Innovative Vehicle Institute debunks the myths of electrification by analyzing the implementation potential of 30 Quebec companies ”

The second part of the project will allow thirty (30) Quebec businesses to have their usage data analyzed in order to determine the level of compatibility with the current offer of electric trucks and to obtain a personalized technical and economic report to begin their transition.

Between fall 2022 and the end of 2023,  participating fleets will be supported over a period of 3 months in order to  perform the energy and operational analysis of a part of their current fleet and develop a personalized action plan.

Why participate?

  • The  Innovative Vehicle Institute team and the project partners ensure that the potential for implementation is measured and analyzed in real conditions of use.

  • Our electrification experts rely on your actual usage data to develop a personalized action plan to estimate the return on investment.

  • Technical support for a period of three months to start your electrification project on solid foundations.

Cost: Free

Registration period: January 2022 to August 2022

Selection criteria: Owners and operators of heavy vehicles (PEVL) who have a fleet that meets the following criteria:

  • Operate class 6 to 8 trucks, carriers or tractors, intended mainly for the transport of goods

Phase 3 - Experimentation and support

“The IVI and five (5) Quebec fleets demonstrate that the electrification of heavy-duty transport is now a reality”

Five (5) participating businesses will move from theory to practice during 2023 by testing the advantages and challenges of electric heavy-duty truck in real-life conditions. Thanks to our partners, these fleets will have access to a free one-month electric truck loan including the appropriate charging infrastructure.

Why apply?

  • This phase aims to be the bridge between theory and practice by testing, in real conditions of use, the advantages and challenges of electric heavy-duty transportation in real-life conditions.
  • The experience of electric driving and turnkey support including the appropriate charging infrastructure allowing simplified access to the upcoming technology.

Participant selection period: in 2023 among Phase 2 participants

A selection committee will analyze the applications received that meet the selection criteria.
